I laughed a lot.
In a year already tainted by disappointing inherited consequences (Happy Gilmore 2, we look at you directly), the naked pistol stands – not as a renewal worthy of the absurd, clear, lively, but as a reminder of what can be funny.
Directed by Akiva Schaffer (Hot Rod, Popstar), someone who clearly understands the art of intelligent humor, this restart is both a tribute and a refreshment. Liam Neeson enters the shoes of the end, the Grande Leslie Nielsen with surprising ease, bringing an impassive sincerity to each scandalous bridge. Associating it with Pamela Anderson – Yes, Pamela Anderson, who somehow manages to be sensual and sincerely funny – is being a movement of genius. Their chemistry is unexpected, undeniable and, apparently, real.
The film knows exactly what it is. He does not waste a second pretending to be more. It is a film parody – gloriously. The jokes come quickly and often, and although not all strikes, the transparent volume guarantees that you never have more than ten seconds of your next laugh. And when he landed, he really lands. Gags in sight, absurd one-liners, a clear mission: impossible tributes, and yes, even a visual gag oj Simpson perfectly at the line in the trailer-this thing does not play safe, but it plays intelligent.
More importantly, this respects the public. Where HAPPY GILMORE 2 felt like a collage without joy of reminders and swollen execution, the naked pistol is tight, efficient and determined. Only 85 minutes, he entered and left before he exceeded his welcome. It’s well done comedy: short, silly, satisfactory.
The support distribution brings serious warmth. Paul Walter Hauser, Kevin Durand, Cch Pournder and Danny Huston (who crushed him as a villain) are all locked up in the clumsy rhythm of the film. Everyone is on the joke, but no one wink at the camera – and that’s the key. You sell stupid humor by taking it seriously, and this distribution knows the mission.
Looking at this in a theater full of people by really laughing – to be, often and together – was a rare joy. And this experience has not been limited to longtime fans. Even the new arrivals (like the girlfriend of a spectator, who did not know that it was a parody film that started) laughed from start to finish. The naked pistol is not based on nostalgia to win his laughter – he wins the old -fashioned way: with a net timing, a physical comedy and a gag -gag commitment.
This film will get a suite. He has already made his budget almost and word of mouth is strong. He deserves to succeed, not only because he revives a long-mordu genre, but because it reminds us that going to the cinema to laugh with foreigners is always one of the best experiences.
If there is a lesson that Hollywood should draw from it: do not slide the characters inherited just at the head of name recognition. Give them something intelligent, silly and respectful to do. The naked pistol does exactly that.
The naked pistol = 82/100
