Real Madrid looking to build momentum
Los Blancos may have lost to Osasuna last time out in La Liga, but the momentum has been building in recent weeks.
The 2-1 win over Benfica in midweek secured qualification for the Champions League last 16, while a win over Getafe would move them within a point of leaders Barcelona.
Barcelona remain favorites for the title, but the narrative could yet be reversed, meaning every game is now a must-win for Álvaro Arbeloa’s men.
The key to Madrid’s success in recent weeks has been the offensive performance of Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior.
Indeed, the duo have scored nine and seven goals respectively since Arbeloa took over as interim coach, thus enjoying great freedom.
The Brazilian in particular was impressive. He scored again midweek against Benfica and looks set to play a vital role in the title race.
Arbeloa will also be supported by the fact that several first-team stars are close to returning from injury. Rodrygo could add something more in the final third as he recovers from a hamstring problem, while Jude Bellingham looks set to return to action sooner rather than later for Madrid.
As the club battles on the European and domestic fronts over the coming weeks, having a well-rounded squad will be imperative to success.
Getafe seeking first win against Real Madrid since 2022
January 2022 was the last time Getafe beat Real Madrid, with the Spanish giants winning the following eight meetings between the two.
Could Getafe take solace in the fact that Osasuna secured a 2-1 win over Los Blancos last weekend?

They have lost just one of their last five La Liga matches and a win against Madrid would move them closer to the top half of the table.
Top scorer Borja Mayoral could miss the match due to injury, so the visitors will have to rely on Mauro Arambarri (5) and Juanmi (5) as the main goal threats.
Team News
Although things on the injury front look more promising for Madrid than a few weeks ago, Éder Militão, Bellingham, Dani Ceballos, Dean Huijsen, Mbappé and Raul Asensio are ruled out of this match.
For Getafe, Davinchi and Abu Kamara will both be absent for Monday night’s clash.
Elsewhere, Djené is suspended and Abdel Abqar faces a late fitness check before the match to see if he is fit or not.
Prediction
Madrid will be keen to follow up their 2-1 win over Benfica with another win.
The desire to avoid losing ground in the title race should be motivation enough for Arbeloa and his men to seal all three points in comfortable fashion.
