I want to get my money back.

A group of friends is terrorized by a harasser who knows a horrible incident of their past.

Hollywood learned all the bad lessons from the Boom of the Legacy suite. Example: I know what you did last summer (2025), the last attempt to breathe a new life in a horror frankness that should probably have to remain buried alongside his hook killer. And unlike Scream, who has managed to reinvent himself for a new generation while respecting his roots, this film replayed the biggest successes on a broken platinum – and adds absolutely nothing.

Premise? Identical to the original. July 4. Young adults do something stupid. Someone is injured. They cover it. And then – Shocker – They start to be chosen one by one with worrying messages saying: “I know what you did last summer.” The problem is not familiarity. This film is not even trying to do anything with it again. It is a copy of a copy of a copy, lowered to the point of absurdity.

The characters make such confusing decisions, it looks like a parody of horror logic. People go out alone in darkness. They do not wear weapons. They show an almost zero emotional response when friends or engaged are brutally murdered. You could practically hear the collective round-yyeux of the theater when the main casting acts several times as if they were in a Tiktok sketch, not a deadly situation.

There is a decent killer very early who almost deceives you by thinking that there could be an inventive slasher to have fun – but no. The other victims are forgettable, without inspiration and often poorly staged. This thing takes place quickly.

The casting tries – to know. Madelyn Cline and Chase Su Wonders do their best with what gives them, but it is impossible to shine through such a bad script. These characters are not people. These are tropes in creative clothing. Tyler Withers, playing the Ryan Phillippe Knockoff Teddy, is perhaps the only one to stand out, and even it is because they cosplayed him practically in a white sweater at the gymnasium as if it was a tribute to the original.

Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. come back – and honestly, it’s the real tragedy here. It’s not that they are bad. It is that they are completely wasted. Have you waited for more than 25 years for a story worthy of bringing Julie and Ray, and is that what you found? Is that the meeting we get?

As the final act takes place, the public was not breathless – they laughed. The highest point is a pure nonsense generated by AI-Fan Fiction. The revelation of the killer makes no sense and is based on the motivations that have the impression of being paved together during a bathroom break in the writers’ room. And just when you think it cannot become more stupid, the film throws in a scene of median credits so hilarious, it could as well be a parody of frightening film.

It’s not all on the director, to be fair. There are glimps – overviews – style. But this is not a problem of realization. This is a script problem. A history problem. A vision problem. This film does not understand its own franchise, its audience or the emotional issues with which it should work. And worse – that doesn’t care. He treats his inheritance as luggage instead of a foundation.

At best, I know what you did last summer (2025) is a missed opportunity. At worst, it is an insult for fans of the original. Nostalgia bait without heart, teeth and without hook.

I know what you did last summer = 12/31/100
