I wonder a player who excels in attack and defense speaks volumes about the NFL talent assessors.

As we all know now, the action never stops in the NFL, even without the games being played. The screening combination is behind us, and the free agency is almost finished (except for the normal drama of Aaron Rodgers) before the draft of the NFL at the end of April. Speaking of the project, one of the main questions leading to the time to see the players officially become professionals focused on the defensive / defensive recipient of Colorado, Travis Hunter. Speculation ranges from the discussion on the place where Hunter is written, to the way it should be used once this team selects it with a choice of project probably high. On the one hand, the questions could be considered valid, and on the other, it would be understood if this subject as a whole is nothing more than fodder invented for speaking heads and “experts” to quench the thirst for content.

Before diving into the validity of the questions, let’s start with facts on the player, for context. Hunter was very recruited by numerous power conference schools, before stunning the world of university football with the decision to play Jackson State, which was trained by Deion Sanders at the time. On the surface, people wondered why Hunter would go to play at the smallest college, but since the cornerback is its natural position (more about it in a minute), why would it not want to learn the best to play this position? After spending his first year in JSU, Hunter would follow Sanders in Colorado, where he would become a familiar name with his versatility. Not only would it remain one of the best corners in the country, but would also become one of the elite receptors. His ability to be on the field for about 100 games per game (regularly) played a decisive role in his victory for the Heisman trophy last season. Now Hunter is anywhere in the top-five on most recovery tables with regard to the best available players.

After reading this last paragraph, it is logical to ask why there are problems that decide where Hunter would adapt in the team plan that writes it. The problem is not as much the athlete as the front offices that assess. Like most things in life, comments and “analysis” come from a negative objective, speaking of what cannot be done, or from what a player cannot or will not. What Hunter can do is play football, and there is no reason why he can’t do in the NFL what he did at university. Deciding how to use Hunter talents should be easy from the point of view of the front office, but as the accent is on birth, the lines become blurred. If his natural position is defensive, write it in order to play it there, then bring together a package where it can get shots on the offensive side (just to start). If Hunter always feels fresh after the number of games, give him more games. Above all, why would a team not want to get a player with Hunter’s skills as much like possible on the field? More often than not, there are too many questions that have no reason to be asked.

Of course, we will not have any answers before the opening of the project on April 24 in Green Bay, Wisconsin, but that does not mean that the forecast time stops soon. In this spirit, let’s talk about the order project. Tennessee Titans have the first choice, followed by Cleveland giants and New York giants. Unsurprisingly, the conversation begins and ends with the quarter position, and this year’s class is titled by Cam Ward (Miami’s “U”) and Sheder Sanders (Hunter teammate in Colorado). Most will say that it’s crazy, but if the titans do not take Hunter with the choice, it might be better to negotiate and store more choices. Despite all the media threshing (with the eternal obsession with the QB position), nothing says that Ward or Sanders are players that franchises can build. In addition to that, Tennessee has a lot of problems on their list, and choosing a quarterrier does not make them disappear. It is easily forgotten how team sports football is, and unless the Titans start with the construction of the list, the same problems will persist. In addition, if it does not work with Hunter, the team is not torpedoed for years, like missing on a QB. So if Tennessee keeps the choice, they could also go with the best player.

It is no secret that the NFL season is a version, and the assessment that the game can take on the human body is undeniable. It is also true how rare it is to see the players take pictures on both sides of the ball with regularity. What Hunter will try to do when entering the league has never been done before, but can at least have a chance before it is a non-automatic? We are always told that the story is supposed to be broken, so let’s see what Hunter does. According to all the indications, he has work ethics to correspond to the talent and a mentality to be great in what he does. At the end, it should be all the first offices, and it could be a big mistake if Hunter could not maximize his talents due to poor management.
